Yes, that's right, this one's for all you young dentists, at the request of a young dentist. Don't worry if you're an older dentist, like me, I think you'll find this issue relevant and useful for your dealings with our younger colleagues. I hope my young readers will share this piece with your same aged pals.
It turns out your ADA & FDA have done plenty for you in the past 20 years, much of which often goes unheralded and remains unknown to our grassroots members. Those accomplishments have been both things we've supported and (in some cases) even made law as well as opposed and successfully shut down. For those of you who see DDOH and wonder what the heck it is, it's Dentist Day on the Hill and it takes place every year during the legislative session in Tallahassee. I've attended every one but 2, where a last minute airline strike and a nasty storm resulted in cancelled flights. Most dental legislation is not federal, it's state law and must be fought at the state level. I'm gonna give you examples of what a strong dental association can accomplish and what happens in states with weak ones.
The first ever DDOH was in 1996 and the issues we faced included mandating all dental offices to hire a "medical director" for the small fee of ~$50,000 annual salary. Obviously, that salary would be much higher 21 years later. We shut that one down slam dunk and most dentists have no idea it ever happened. These types of asinine bills usually come up because some vested interest who stands to benefit from its passage into law will approach legislators with a large political contribution in exchange for their support. The other issue that year was denturism, I wonder how many of you young members even know what denturism is? I'll tell you, it's your denture lab tech being legally allowed to see pts. in a dental op they have in their denturism practice, taking impressions, doing the try-ins, finishing and delivering complete and partial dentures to people who used to be our pts.! This bill came about due to a nice lady in the FL House whose mother was frustrated with her difficulty finding a Medicaid dentist to make her nice, cheap dentures. We shut that one down, too. States like MT, UT, AZ, CO, OR & ME were too weak to stop it and it became law. From what I researched, MT & UT have repealed it, good for them! I don't have to tell you once a bad law sinks its claws into a state, it can be very tough to repeal. So, these are 2 we stopped.
Another issue we passed was coverage for partial dentures for Medicaid pts. Sounds like a no-brainer, but Medicaid used to only cover complete dentures. That meant dentists often found themselves removing perfectly good teeth for the sole purpose of the pt. getting his dentures! Can any of you imagine yourselves (with a non-Medicaid pt.) going before the BOD in a disciplinary hearing with the board members showing your pt.'s FMX or Pano on a big screen and asking you why you removed 5-6 teeth that were strong and free of caries? That was the talking point I used on legislators, I told them "if I were to do to my patients what your law mandates I do, I'd lose my license!". It worked and we got coverage for partials.
Next on our hit list was another effort to mandate every dental lab in FL to hire a CDT. Never mind that it would have taken 3-4 years for all the vo-tech programs in FL that produce CDTs to graduate enough for the 1,200 (legal) labs, it was a ridiculous, self serving effort by the FDLA, who gave $ to a FL legislator to push this. We demolished it in the first healthcare committee hearing!
More recently, there was an effort (2005) by a group called FIDA (Fla. Intl. Dental Assn.) to allow foreign dental grads to sit for the ADEX without any US dental training. Aside from the fact there's an enormous difference between what's taught in US dental schools, vs. Latin America, it was a kick in the teeth (pun intended) to young US dental grads with staggering loan debt. These folks don't have such a debt burden. would work for peanuts and cut you out of the marketplace. A Colombian dental grad who has US training and did things the right way, accompanied me to Tallahassee to meet with FIDA's Pres., a Rep. they were appealing to and their lobbyist. This clueless legislator felt what we did was no big deal and could be taught to these foreign dentists in a setting like plumbers or air conditioning technicians! We educated him and it went no further. The other big foreign dental grad issue has been around since 2010 and is always looking to surface again. That's from 50+ Cuban dental grads who practice under public health permit in CA but wanna come to FL and sit for ADEX sans US dental training. We've fought this for many sessions and always prevail. In 2011, they hired a former FL Rep. as a lobbyist and his sitting FL Sen. brother got it heard in committee. We stopped it right there and I was both validated and relieved when I heard 2 of those Senate committee members reading from the talking points I'd sent them, verbatim.
The current issue we face is that of DHATs (Dental Health Aide Therapist), which are currently legal in 4 states and operating in 2. Let's just call them dental therapists for simplicity. These are not super assistants, my friends, these are high school grads with 3 years tech training and they can inject anesthesia, do fillings, pulpotomies and extractions! They are promoted as the equivalent of a nurse practitioner, which they are not. Nurse practitioners have far more education and training, but they don't perform the irreversible and invasive procedures DHAT's do. There is power and big $ at play here and both the Pew and Kellogg's Foundations are heavily invested in getting this issue to pass in FL. They are aided and abetted by the former dean of the UFCD, Frank Catalanotto. This movement has a nationalist agenda, believes all healthcare (us included) should be delivered in a public health, one-size-fits-all model and have no problem with foisting lesser trained persons on unsuspecting patients. The DHAT model originated in New Zealand and has been a dismal failure in preventing dental disease, which remains rampant there. It's a well known reality that we cannot drill, fill & pull our way to dental health. Without prevention and education, nothing can improve.
The DHAT proponents cite lack of access to care as the reason for a non-dentist to do dental procedures but the true solution does not lie there. With 3 FL schools cranking out dentists and dentists who come to FL from other states, we do not have a lack of dentists, we have a maldistribution of dentists. The most successful model to put dentists where the low income, limited access pts. are is loan repayment. That's where a new dental grad agrees to work in a low access setting and the state gives them a financial return to help pay off their debt. It has worked very well in other states and we finally (after many years of trying) got it passed in FL last session, only to be vetoed by Gov. Rick Scott. Since he's gonna be running for U.S. Senate in 2018, I don't think he'll be dumb enough to veto it again, but one never knows with Rick Scott. The good news is we do have both a House & Sen. version of the loan repayment bill for this session. The bad news is we also have a newly elected Rep. Daniel Perez who's filed a bill that would allow DHATs to operate in FL. If he withdraws it, we'll treat it like a rookie mistake and move on. If he does not, he will face vigorous opposition! There are other issues we've dealt with successfully, of lesser impact, but these are big.
So, in closing, let me share with my young colleagues some things I've learned over 22 years of fighting in the political weeds:
1- Legislation will either be done FOR us or TO us, it all depends on how involved and engaged or disconnected and apathetic we choose to be. (I coined this one, myself)
2- We are either at the table or on the menu.
3- Party affiliation means nothing when it comes to our issues. We are the Tooth Party when in Tallahassee or DC, no Rs or Ds.
4- Historically, our issues have been both advanced as well as opposed by both parties. I'd have to say we've had more interaction with Republicans because of their majorities in both legislative chambers. Case in point, all the bad bills mentioned above were sponsored by GOP legislators. All you young dentists are threatened like no dental generation before you ever has been. We're told not to be perceived as self serving in the eyes of legislators, which is quite ironic when you consider they can be some of the most self serving people there are, LOL. In advocacy for one's profession and the benefit of the citizens (i.e. our pts.) it can sometimes get heated, tense and downright ugly. My advice to all of you is get involved, get tough, never give up, don't allow the opposition to intimidate you and always take the fight to them. Life is never fair and practicing good dentistry is a part of life.

"American Coup, Terrorism & A Needless Electoral Loss"
Wow, have things been happening in the last 5 weeks! The coup I refer to is the deep state plot to remove Trump and the asinine complicity of not only his own party's RINOs, but even his inept AG. Yes, it was Jeff Sessions who recused himself from the Russian BS scam, hoping to appear fair and be liked by his enemies-yes, enemies. When will stupid Republicans ever learn that they will never be liked or admired by those sworn to the destruction of our nation's culture, heritage and future?! I expect that kind of spinelessness from RINOs in blue states but not a good ol' boy from a deep red state who had the nads to openly support Trump from the get go. By recusing himself, Sessions opened the door to his deputy lackey to then appoint Bob Mueller, a deep state hack and Obama butt boy, to destroy a political opponent. This was the kind of thing you'd expect if the Dems were in charge of House & Senate, which they're not. Sessions needs to grow a pair and start investigating the Clinton Foundation and the treasonous Russian Ur deal. Trump had the good sense to use DC outsiders for his most crucial cabinet posts but he really screwed up with DC insider Sessions. This farce will all go for naught but waste plenty of time. As long as our jobs and economy continue to improve, the voters will have little use for this side show and its fully invested clowns.
We've seen terror attacks in Vegas, from a deranged WASP who was on anxiolitic meds and never should have gotten that arsenal, as well as a maniacal sub human who came here from an Islamic toilet nation to kill innocents in NYC and brag about it. In Vegas, there was more than one shooter, which the media has totally ignored. See for yourselves.

This is yet another govt. false flag operation and Paddock was probably a patsy who likely did some of the shooting but was also assisted. There have also been "crisis actors" seen in more than one mass shooting event in different times and locations, what a coincidence. Wake up, my friends, our govt. cannot be trusted!

If any of you do even a basic search, you can find many of these cases and none of them get media coverage. There's a reason that Mandalay Bay security guard disappeared on the day he was booked for several interviews, was sequestered for 2 days and his family warned not to comment on the Vegas shootings.

The POS in the NYC terrorist attack last week is yet more proof of why the Diversity Lotto program must be trashed. Can't blame this one on Barry, though he did do his level best to load the nation up with jihadists in his 8 years. This suicidal policy was enacted during the time of Bush 41, a useful idiot and globalist if ever there was one. Why does America have this crazy obsession with aggressively enticing people who hate our culture and way of life into coming here?! When I came from Cuba, it soon became my dream to become an American and I love this country like no other. On many occasions I've seen ungrateful Cubans (more recently arrived) who speak ill of this great country, as well as other Latinos. Sometimes they look at me and think I don't habla, so I don't know what they're saying. Well, I can assure you the verbal barrage they get from me is swift and strong. I tell them them they're damn lucky to be here, they should thank this nation and will not be missed if they so dislike the USA that they return to their dysfunctional native countries. The reason I bring this up is we DO NOT see that in the Muslim enclaves. They have neither the moral fiber nor courage to take on the terrorist elements within their ranks and even aid and abet them when they try to avoid the authorities after an attack. This was plainly seen in Brussels after the Bataclan & stadium attacks, they hid the ringleader for weeks.
The left is wild about background checks for me and you when we try to lawfully buy a firearm, which is fine by me. I'd add the same level of scrutiny to ANY Muslim wanting to buy or rent a truck! Check all their internet activity and issue them a permit, only after they've been vetted. It's not perfect but will prevent many attacks. Is this profiling? Damn right it is! When the FBI was going after the Mafia they profiled Italians, in Miami the drug wars had profiling of Cubans and Colombians. Scotland Yard certainly profiled Irish when fighting IRA terror. Spain did the same with Basques when fighting ETA. The FBI & DHS know where the Wahabi mosques are that radicalize these losers, yet nothing is done to shut them down or eavesdrop on them. Di Blasio even suspended programs that helped ferret out terrorists, but he probably has no fear of losing an election. No numbers of American lives lost to terrorist scum are acceptable losses. See the price of PC: http://ussanews.com/News1/2017/11/02/bombshell-bill-de-blasio-ended-surveillance-of-mosque-the-nyc-terrorist-attended-video/
This nation either extricates its head from the terminus of its alimentary canal or we go on accepting the "new normal".
Rounding out our terror list of late is a TX white trash monster who gunned down 50+, killing 27, in a church with an AR-15 he should have never been able to legally obtain. Much like the 9-11 terrorist hijackers did not violate any of the rules at that time for carrying box cutters on board, this POS passed a background check because the USAF failed to report his bad conduct discharge for domestic battery, arrest and jail time. WTH is going on in our PC military these days??!! Sorry if I offend any of my readers who served with honor, but it seems we now have a military run by PC desk jockeys and rules that allow a deranged jihadist to carry an Army issued business card that read S.O.A. (Soldier Of Allah) who went on to murder 14 of his fellow soldiers in Ft. Hood, dubbed "workplace violence" by our former Disgrace-in-Chief, Barry. Now we have a monster whose criminal past was kept secret by our military, murdered dozens of innocents, prompting the Air Force to "look into it".

I wanna close with the needless loss in a recent special election. On Sept. 26, there was an election to fill the Sen. seat vacated by the resignation of Frank Artiles. We lost a true friend and long time ally when Rep. Jose "Pepi" Diaz lost to a virtual nobody named Annette Taddeo, who catapulted from 4-time loser non entity to FL Sen. This should never have happened when there were weeks of unopposed steady mailers from Diaz, as well as his signage blanketing the district. I saw none of that from his opponent whose claim to fame was a foundering business and no record to run on. So, how did this happen? It was a perfect storm of factors, made all the worse by Gov. Scott's insistence in not postponing the election a few weeks due to Irma.
1)Simply mailing it in only reinforces your existing voters and does little to attract new ones.
2) This larger Sen. district has many Trump hating Hispanics and Taddeo tied Diaz to Trump.
3) Many GOP voters were either angry at Tallahassee for its slow response to post-hurricane recovery, apathetic to go vote because of no electricity, mounds of debris, etc. or both.
4) Diaz, despite his stellar record of accomplishments, was easy to tie to the Tallahassee Establishment and people reacted to it.
5) SoH, Corcoran, tied Diaz down with votes that could later be used against him and motivate his opposition.
Either way, what's done is done and Pepi has many talents and does not need to be a career politician. I also pin this loss squarely on the narrow shoulders of Chmn. Blaise Ingoglia and the hapless RPOF, who failed to factor in the demographic changes in parts of Dade and turn out the GOP base. Even though Taddeo will do nothing in a Senate where the GOP has a solid majority, it's a foot in the door. I believe this is a harbinger of bad things to come for FL, much the same as I saw in CA 30 years ago. I think Miami is the next L.A. and FL is the next Mexifornia. If we don't seal our borders and stop the uncontrolled influx of any and all unskilled, poorly educated Hispanics, the Miami & Orlando portions of the state will swell to a point they will outnumber and outvote the rest of FL, flipping the already purple state to blue. By then I'll be retired and live elsewhere, thank God!

"Canada, Weather & Stupid Kids"
Hi folks, I hope all of you in FL are either back with power on or damn close to it. What a mess! No need to further delve into the what ifs than we got hit and it coulda been far worse. I feel sad for Puerto Rico and the other smaller islands that got all but erased by Irma. It's encouraging to see the amount of mobilization and its benefits to those whose lives were up ended. The 10 deaths in the Broward nursing home is a nightmare come true that will have many tentacles and hopefully end with much needed changes and some people in jail. It's disgusting that our legislature and then Gov. Jeb Bush failed the people of FL back in 2006, when the issue of mandating generators capable of handling A.C. in any facility was killed in the Sen. Thank you, Senators Ken Pruitt & Jim King, for your lack of leadership and selling out to the Big Ins., ALF and Long Term Care lobbies! Even today, it's difficult for a prospective pt. or their family to vet such facilities. The same AHCA that always manages to meddle in our profession also covers for bad actors in the elderly care industry by redacting the reports to remove negative details and specific words.

Any smart challenger running against any incumbent GOP legislator, should be pounding this issue 24/7.
Now to Canada. In 2015 we took a delightful cruise that stopped in Nova Scotia & Prince Edward Island, among other places. It was so beautiful, we made it a point to return in a slower, land based trip where we had an SUV and could drive around, stay in cabins and B&Bs, etc. It was a great vacation and a learning experience for me. Here's what I learned about our friendly neighbor to the north.
Canadians are wonderful, friendly people! They went out of their way to help us with even the smallest detail, like getting me 2 plastic cups (when I forgot to pack our water bottles) from the bank's lunch room when we went to change $, so we could drink our spring water in the SUV. BTW, the U.S. $ got us anywhere from a +18.5-22.5% in exchange rates! Things are expensive in Canada, so it took some of the edge off. Not every bank will do it for non-account holders but BiMo (Banque de Montreal) did, my new fave. French is not just prevalent in the province of Quebec, it's also widely spoken in NS, PEI & NB. Virtually everyone we encountered in any service with the public spoke French. Canada is pretty safe, they don't lock things up or worry much about petty theft and violence. I wore my N.R.A. fleece jacket a few times (not in any airport, of course!) and got some looks, even a short conversation from a very pleasant waiter and hostess. They were intrigued about our 2nd amendment rights and told me they agreed with it. Seafood is king! I lost track of the times we had seafood chowder, seafood pizza, fish & chips and haddock, yum! I'm glad we took along our little espresso maker, an Italian made Bialetti. Otherwise no espresso in our cabins! NS has a wine region and they are top notch places with great wines and delicious food. Canada is a socialist nation and they've accepted it much like the slowly boiled frog that doesn't jump out of the water cuz it can't notice the slow heat increase metaphor. I was shocked to find out the P.M. is the one who chooses the members of the Senate! They have a parliamentary system and their House of Commons is like our Congress, but the Sen. is a total sham. I take that to mean Canadians are too damn nice and willing to accept a P.M. who thinks he knows best and says screw them and their right to determine who governs and represents them in Ottawa- outrageous! The nice lady who told me this was a retired police dispatcher and when I commented, "So, you guys don't really have a true democracy", she replied, "No, we don't!" with a look of resignation. People get the govt. they deserve, even in Canada.
http://o.canada.com/news/national/senate-nominations-a-patronage-guide-for-prime-ministers-and-the-public
Another thing I learned is Canada can be somewhat anti-capitalist, they forbid Uber in most provinces, the only exception being the largest cities. I remember in Quebec City (2015), there was no Uber, nor in either NS, PEI or NB on this trip. The govt. controls most of the liquor commerce and taxes are twice what we pay. Gasoline is about $3.50-3.75 (in US$) a gallon! The dispatcher lady told me that the high booze and gas prices by no means stop DUI in Canada, LOL. I also learned that not all the tourist places and rentals of things like bikes, kayaks & canoes stay open and accessible the same length of time, especially NB, which I dubbed the bumpkin cousin of NS & PEI. Never mind the fact NB pretty much closes down after Labor Day, which the other provinces don't do. I was calling and emailing since June and never got any reply from any NB outfitter. All that said, Canada's a great place to visit and I'd do it again. It's just interesting to see the freedoms we often take for granted which even some advanced nations don't enjoy.
I'll end with stupid kids, which have now morphed into potentially very dangerous kids, especially in our so called "institutions of higher learning". America is reaping what it sowed when we allowed the far left to completely take over academia, much like the price dentistry is paying for allowing the ADA to lose influence and power in CODA and other regulatory bodies. Anarchy has metastasized to outright violence. The young & stupid call those of us with conservative views fascists, yet it is they who invite and support ANTIFA, a truly fascist goon squad that acts just like the goose stepping brown shirts of Hitler's 3rd Reich. When the mob can decide what is or isn't acceptable speech and either intimidate, threaten or physically attack a speaker like Ben Shapiro (yet embrace speakers on such wholesome topics as man-boy love and bestiality), we no longer have a 1st Amendment, we have Mao's Cultural Revolution or Orwell's Big Brother!
http://elitedaily.com/news/politics/millennials-stop-control-free-speech/1383987/
Don't think universities, nowadays more like Marxist indoctrination centers, aren't paying a price in enrollment & donations, they are!
http://www.euvolution.com/futurist-transhuman-news-blog/free-speech/editorial-heavy-price-for-stifling-free-speech-on-campus-stltoday-com.php
http://www.foxnews.com/us/2016/03/14/mizzou-may-pay-price-for-campus-protests-as-enrollment-plunges.html
I disagree with the Euvolution author that all students shouldn't be punished. If they can't get a handle on the vermin infesting their schools, they're a silent, intimidated enabler and part of the problem. The same applies to deans and local police chiefs who order campus and city police to stand down and do nothing. If they won't protect law abiding citizens, someone else will. We cannot allow these criminals to intimidate us or shut us down. A whopping 30% of the young & stupid believe violence is okay if it stops what they call "hate speech". If violence is all they've got, look for ANTIFA to be confronted and whooped by bikers or militias, it's coming! Here are a few examples from my no-spin glossary of liberal idiocy terminology:
1)Hate speech- Any speech that's truthful and points out unflattering and/or dissenting facts about liberals, their beliefs & agenda, those they spin as victims, the afflicted, snowflakes, enviro zealots, etc.
2) Micro aggressions- Any factual commentary, statistical reporting, etc. about any non-white groups that exposes anything negative, i.e. incarceration, illegitimacy, illiteracy rates or disproportionate criminality.
3) White privilege- Success achieved by a white person as a result of hard work, sacrifice and determination. Obama's asinine "you didn't build that" comments, fully embraced and parroted by Fakeahontas, are a good example.
4) Safe space- An imaginary place where the young & stupid think they can hide out and escape reality. This is especially true if the snowflakes have never heard the word "no", worked for a $ or otherwise done anything for anyone but themselves.
5) Snowflake- A pampered, snot nosed adolescent or young adult who was told all their life they're "special", faultless, and the world owes them everything they want, without having to earn it. These kids got meaningless "participation" trophies, never experienced loss and never worked for even an allowance. They also manipulated their parents into never telling them anything they didn't wanna hear, which is why they're now intolerant collegians.
I'll leave you with some amusing cartoons you'd never see on campus, LOL.

"Hot, Turbulent Times!"
Hello, my friends, this issue is a month late but hopefully not a dollar short. The heat is stifling and so is all the political turmoil. I'll do non-dental stuff and end with dental.
The all out war on Trump continues, though their repeated failures and frustrations are fun to watch. The Dems are over reaching so much that they could possibly save the spineless, pathetic GOP from its feckless self. People are getting more and more pissed off at a party that only does resistance and witch hunts, while they see robust jobs creation, an unemployment rate at a 16-year low and a growth rate in only 7 months higher than Obammy had in all his 8 years. That said, I've come to the conclusion that Trump lacks the temperament to be POTUS. His failure (or outright refusal) to make the transition from CEO to a manager who has 2 equal partners who can stop him is evident daily and being seized upon by his enemies. For a guy who's a lifelong winner and supposedly has a good eye for talent, Trump's cabinet choices, their screw ups and revolving door stints are a mind boggling show of poor judgement. Does that mean I'm no longer supporting Trump? HELL NO! Just think of what the alternative was, talk about gloom, doom and economic collapse. We forget that when we went out of our way to elect a non-politician, we also got a guy who has no clue about how to deal with adversity and enemies in the political jungle. As usual, the GOP is much to blame for not shutting down most of the BS. Can any of you imagine the GOP going after Obama in both House & Senate when Pelosi & Reid were in charge?
The GOP's refusal to repeal Obamacare is paralyzing the process. The 7 GOP Senate traitors are all on record for supporting a clean repeal in the past, but now they got busted when the time came to do it. This piece shows their very words, which were clearly worthless when they needed to back it up with actions:

Aside from these RINOs lacking the spine to see if the moochers outnumber the taxpayers and who will show up to vote, I believe the DC Establishment simply doesn't wanna give up the power that comes with controlling 1/6 of the US economy. I'm sure if we look at their contributions, Big Ins. & Big Pharma feature prominently. I'd love to remove every damn one of these frauds, they richly deserve it, but that's very difficult to do. Eric Cantor was removed by a true conservative who won the general, a rare exception. The loathsome Lisa Murkowski (R-AK) was also removed in her primary, years ago, but changed to Independent and won the general. I guess the Eskimos, meth heads and other Alaskan spongers turned out to keep their "free" stuff.
I'm convinced we no longer have 2 parties and the GOP side of this Uniparty is so desperate to be liked & admired, that they go along to get along. Up to now I've feared the GOP could easily lose the House in 2018 and the Sen. in 2020, which may still be possible. Only the extreme lust for revenge and disconnect of the Dems could sufficiently anger the voters that they turn out and hold their noses for the GOP, as well as the Dem base staying home in frustration with lack of the pound of flesh they were promised. The 2 things that mostly enrage the GOP base are: 1) Failure to act on the issues that got the GOP elected to House & Senate majorities. 2) Refusal to investigate the Obama & Hillary criminals, whose true violations are far worse than any fictitious, asinine collusion, Russian meddling or other BS squirrel chases. We shall see in 2018 if there's enough economic progress that it distracts them from taking their revenge on the pitiful GOP. Meanwhile, Trump advances his immigration, climate change hoax and military reform agendas, while the Dems & liberal media play echo chamber pocket pool.
Last week Trump wowed a WV rally audience and WV's Dem Gov. announced he was done as a Dem and switching to GOP the next day, watch the reaction he got:

This angered and prompted a WaPo reporter to reveal the true snobbery and condescending hubris of the DC liberal elite club:

Locally, our friend and ally, Jose "Pepi" Diaz, easily won his primary, getting more votes than his 2 primary opponents, combined. Pepi faces Annette Taddeo in Sept. and should have little trouble beating her. The best part of this is that 1 of those 2 Pepi beat was none other than retread, career pol wannabe, Alex Diaz de la Portilla, part of the DLP clan so hostile to dentistry. This guy served ages ago in both FL House & Sen. then tried to do and end around in 2012, only to be defeated by then newcomer, Jose Javier Rodriguez, whom I've nicknamed "JJ the DLP Slayer", LOL. Remember, JJR also knocked off Miguel DLP, the most anti-FDA of the three. I hope this stinging defeat means we won't see the DLP Bros. run again, but sometimes these guys have no other game and just aren't busy enough as attorneys. JJR is running for FL27, the seat to be vacated by the retiring Ileana Ros Lehtinen in 2018, so he's now in ADPAC territory. I hope he wins, especially if the only opponents the RPOF can throw at him are the annoying Raquel Regalado & lightweight Bruno Barreiro. It makes me think the RPOF is simply writing off this district, which I suspect is the real reason for Ileana's sudden epiphany that it was time to move on. Don't get me wrong, I won't miss her in any way and am not worried about JJR winning this seat. He's certainly been a trooper for our dental issues.
The dental issue that concerns me the most is the looming threat of mid level providers and the liberal do nothings like Pew & Kellogg's Foundations who back them. This unholy alliance is made even worse by the collaboration of former UFCD dean, Frank Catalanotto. He and other dentists who've done nothing dental that isn't academia or public health, seem to think that the P.H. model is the solution to all dental access issues. Why is it so many of our dental schools are run by dentists (or non-dentists, in the case of LECOM) who've never run a practice, made bottom line or had to be competitive in the real world or dental marketplace? I think it's a combination of ultra liberal regents, a Big Brother dental umbrella obsession and the fact most programs are now nothing but farms for McDentist fodder, all of which lead to a perfect segue "solution" via DHATs. Millennials who often lack the confidence or drive to be exceptional and loan debt that's a kettle bell around their necks, are also an essential part of this mediocrity soup. Their professors have convinced many of them that DHATs are the solution to all the problems of access to care. What these snowflakes will find out, as the years pass, is that their more motivated, can do classmates who didn't settle for the lowest rung on the ladder will succeed wildly and the dental success/income gap will become a chasm, as it has in other fields and society in general. The problem is they don't know what they don't know and there's often little urgency. BTW, this is not exclusively a dental problem, I've heard the same from established attorneys and accountants, with respect to their young colleagues. I'm glad there "wasn't an app for that" when I had to deal with life's hurdles and git 'er dun! FL is the big prize for these meddlers and if we don't fight them tooth & nail (pun intended) we're gonna wake up to a dental profession we'll no longer recognize. If you doubt me, look at AK, MN, ME, UT MT, all of which have been saddled with either DHATs , denturism or both. Next issue will feature my Glossary of Liberal & Millennial Terms.

"Getting The Govt. We Deserve"
Hello, my friends! Yes, we all get the government we deserve, regardless of what part of the world we live in. Even dictatorships like Cuba or Venezuela were the end result of a combination of political immaturity, unopposed despotism and an underachieving segment of the populace that wanted to be taken care of. Of course, we don't all vote for the winning candidate. In deeply our divided USA, it's about 50-50. The voters on the losing end never feel they deserve to be subjected to the policies of the winning side's candidate. I certainly wanted no part of the Obama agenda, but had to suck it up for 8 years. That's why I have zero tolerance for those libs who aren't content to simply protest, as I did, but feel they can overturn an election. That's what we've been seeing for 5 months and the latest chapter of the spectacle was the Soviet style show trial that took place last week with Comey. He's got to be the wimpiest, neediest, most attention starved FBI director we've ever had. Even J. Edgar, who sometimes liked to dress like J. Evelyn, kept a stoic public image and hated the Kennedys, how can you not like that? It's no secret the FBI's morale was rock bottom under Comey's "leadership".
The Left was left wanting, as they have with all their attempts to take down Trump, when Comey's excuses and unforced errors not only failed to land any body shots, they exposed his complicity with his mentor, Mueller. Trump should fire Mueller on the spot for his conflict of interest with Comey, as well the revelation that he was one of Jimbo's leakers.
One of the most infuriating aspects of all of this attempted coup is the GOP's complicity in all of it. Can any of you remember the hapless GOP being anywhere near this tough on Obama, Hillary or their minions? Neither can I. I still believe there's a possible doomsday scenario that's possible if the GOP doesn't get Obamacare repeal & replace done, as well as tax & entitlement reform before the 2018 election. Not only could they lose the House, they could also gain next to nothing in the Senate and lose it, outright, in 2020. Think that sounds outlandish? Let's not forget, the 2018 election is very good for the GOP in the Sen., there are twice as many Dems up as GOP and half of those are in states won by Trump. They should pick up from 5-8 seats, given the electoral map I described. But if they do nothing we elected them to do and play along with the Trump enemies, the voters will be fed up enough to punish these RINO frauds at the ballot box. I know I will. If that were to happen, 2020 would favor the Dems and they could take back the Sen. The more I see the increasing similarity of both parties, the more I realize we no longer have 2 major parties with distinct differences in beliefs and policies. We have a uniparty that perpetrates a shell game hoax on we the rubes. People unfriend FB pals, we fail to invite relatives for holiday dinners, etc and all for what? At the end of the day, the politicians act mostly in their own interest and screw us in the process. Many frustrated voters want a third party, but it's a temptation we must resist. Look at Europe and the mess they have with building coalitions amid the multitude of parties they have and vote for. Imagine giving any seriousness or power to airheads like Jill Stein or loons like Gary Johnson?
Since we just had millions of kids graduating last week, I thought I'd share this piece of graduation outrage with you. The principal of Liberty High in northern Mexifornia (where else?) forced an Army reserve senior wear a cap & gown over his uniform or not be in the ceremony. The lad has far more honor than this squat-to-pee pinko, so he stood by his principles and did not graduate. Once the military vet community found out and unleashed a PR Code Red on his sorry ass, the coward took responsibility for his outrageous act, apologized and gave the kid his diploma. This is what we're producing in academia, people who run a school named Liberty but have no clue what true liberty is-he should be fired!

A similar case occurred in a NJ high school where the powers that be decided they had the right to alter yearbook photos of any students whose attire had Trump's name or who used any Trump reference in their quotes. This is the stuff of Orwell's big Brother!

In Europe, it's easier to see the consequences of people getting the govt. they deserve. When you look at the damage Merkel, Hollande (now Macaroni) and Cameron (now May) have done to their nations, it's a wonder they're not kicked out by the seat of their pants. Yet enough voters put them in power and keep them there. London has a Paki mayor, for God's sake, what can we expect? No matter how badly the Muslim infestation has affected London, there's no way there are enough of them to vote in a majority candidate without infidel complicity. This moron just told us there was "no cause for alarm" right after the second terror attack in as many weeks. His asinine refusal to see or speak the truth reminds me of this scene in the legendary film "Animal House", see for yourselves:

Attacks by Islamic terrorists and the carnage they wreak, are fast becoming the new normal in Europe. The spineless govts. and accomplice media are doing their damnedest to convince the citizens that these are acceptable losses and the way things are gonna be from now on. Today I saw a great video from the Brevard County Sheriff I will share with all of you. It's particularly fitting on the 1st anniversary of the Pulse nightclub massacres. I find his message to be spot on.

It's no longer a matter of only Islamic terrorists. Just last week some disgruntled loser in Orlando decided the correct response for having been fired from his job was to gun down 5 coworkers.
http://www.foxnews.com/us/2017/06/06/orlando-shooting-disgruntled-ex-employee-had-planned-shooting-investigators-say.html
If this murderous rampage wasn't bad enough, the guy was an Army vet. All of you know I have the deepest respect for our military and it pains me to say this. We need to help our vets not only while in the service of the nation, but afterwards all the more. Many of them have difficulty finding jobs and this type of workplace mass shooting can only make employers more hesitant to hire vets. Trump ran on reforming the V.A. and doing all he could for our military personnel. He needs to deliver on that. I can assure you, if I'd been working in that company, Neuman would not have been shooting fish in a barrel, as is too often the case in mass shootings. I've helped friends, patients and colleagues get informed and proactive in firearm selection and use. If any of you are able to do this for your circle of friends, you should do so, as long as the person you're helping has a genuine interest and asked for your help.
Speaking of enemies, it's clear Trump has them in both parties, the govt. bureaucracies and the deep state. It's high time he gets really tough and fires anyone who stayed over from the Obama regime. For those who see that as draconian, I give you Reality Winner. No, that's not a category for the Emmy Awards show, it's the name of a devout left wing ideologue who leaked classified documents to hurt the Trump administration. This cretin once expressed a desire to burn down the WH. Ya think she could at least have done that while Obama was in it? This traitor was not some dead end moron, she was hired as an Air Force linguist and speaks the raghead lingo. To me, there can be no more despicable scum than an American who even sympathizes, let alone sides with Islamic terrorists or its apologists. This is especially true of anyone in our military, who swore an oath to defend the Constitution. We really need to do a far better job of vetting and monitoring all those with access to our govt., the armed forces or any other high security capacity. You'd think after Bradley Manning or whatever the freak's name is nowadays, we would have learned our lesson.
http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2017/06/08/reality-winner-woman-charged-with-top-secret-leak-denied-bond.html
At least Ms. Winner has been taken seriously now and denied bond. She actually had the gall to say that because she was young, white and cute, she'd get bail. I think those very attributes Reality boasted about will no doubt get the attention of Large Marge and Big Bertha, once she's in the slammer. Her new prison name will be Happy Meal. See you all in Orlando, for my final HOD!

"It's Jacques le Screwed!"
Oui, oui, mes amis, c'est tragique! Hello to all of you! French voters have decided they're not paying enough of their hard earned tax $ to prop up slacker EU neighbors like Greece, Portugal, Spain & Italy. They've also decided the Muslim infestation's not too bad yet, they only lose a few 100 in several terror attacks per year to the grateful Muslim immigrants. So, enter Pres. Macaroni, who I'm sure will fix everything by changing nothing. I'm really not surprised, the French have always needed to have the US & UK save their butts from the Huns, why change now? It's no accident they lacked the nads to do what the 2 nations who've rescued them before had the sense to do- upset the status quo with Brexit and a historic upset election. History shows 1000s of US Marines had to bail the French out, all they needed to do this time was to vote for 1 Marine, last name Le Pen, and they couldn't do it. There's a reason Hollande decided not to seek a 2nd term, shades of LBJ. You'd think in this political climate, Le Pen would have made bigger gains, but we're talking about Le Republique Croissant. Oh, well, they will reap what they sowed. This result is also affected by the new generation of French born Muslims and their parents who probably became citizens to vote. France is on a fast track to becoming a caliphate in our lifetime. When the next attack comes and many more follow, I hope they don't come whining to us for help. Le Pen should rub their noses in it every time it happens, she could even run in an "I told you so, imbeciles!" campaign if they get fed up with Macaroni. The liberal media won't dare report this, but I'll bet you French tourism has taken a hit, and it'll get worse now.

We don't get much national reportage on Venezuela, which is near civil war status. I truly feel for any of my Venezolano colleagues and pts. who have family still there. This is the new Cuba and looks like it could get very ugly and end very badly. Unlike Panama, where we invaded to remove Pineapple Face Noriega, the US has no canal or other vital interest in Venezuela and isn't gonna invade to remove the scumbag dictator, Maduro.

Here in L'Amerique, the gang that can't shoot straight made somewhat of a dent in Obamacare. The far right is never satisfied and wants a total shutdown of Obamacare that's unlikely to happen. That said, the effects are already freaking out the left. I don't get it, either we're repealing a law so damn unpopular and dysfunctional that it cost the Dems the House, Senate & WH, or we're touching the newly created 3rd rail of "free" healthcare and there will be hell to pay. I think it's a bit of both, how much of the former, vs. the latter will determine what price, if any, the GOP pays in 2018. Ryan, whom I have very little respect for, is a sellout and needs to be replaced. That won't be easy, since most Dems will vote for him to stay as Speaker, as opposed to some hard right Freedom Caucus member. The best thing I take away from this is the GOP finally located their butts, aided by both hands and a flashlight. They realized single party gridlock would kill them in 2018 and they found a way to compromise and get consensus. Thank God the Freedom Caucus stood their ground and forced concessions that made the fix at least chewable, though not yet swallowable. We'll see what they do this fall with AHCA and tax refom. As usual, the spineless GOP must decide who they fear the most, their voters or their donors and opponents who'll take whatever pound of flesh they can get but will NEVER vote for them. I also believe this was a case of being careful what they wished for. The GOP was whining about not controlling the House, the Senate and finally the WH. They have it all now, Penelope's stocking can no longer be unraveled and knit again! I think the GOP is scared because their excuses have expired and they've been exposed. Many of them don't really want to shrink the size of govt. or give up the power & $ they get from control of 1/6 of our economy. Until we at least double the size of the Freedom Caucus, it will be tough to impose our will.
FL is also a mess, WTH was Frank Artiles thinking?! I've heard the ethanol excuse and wonder how a hard drinking ex Marine was so unable to control himself in a room full of colleagues? His demise was self inflicted and opened the door to much speculation as to which of our FL legislators would run for his seat. If that wasn't already enough, Ileana Ros-Lehtinen announced her retirement. The Dem sites are spinning it as she's hearing footsteps because her once solidly GOP district went for Hillary by 20% last Nov. and she feared, for the first time in her career, that she could lose. WhoTF are those Dist. 27 people and WTF is wrong with them?! I will definitely not retire in FL, it's going the way of an ugly Mexifornia & NY hybrid. This news made the options more varied and may actually work out for the better, avoiding GOP from running against each other and giving FL House members with young children the option to run for Frank's seat, while their fellow GOP can go for Congressional district 27. That happened in 2010, when David Rivera won Lincoln Diaz Balart's seat and avoided an ugly primary with now Sen. Anitere Flores, who's been great for the FDA and our issues. But the 800 gorilla in the room is Dem Sen. Jose Javier Rodriguez, aka JJ the DLP Slayer, LOL. He's already knocked off 2 DLP career pols who badly needed to get booted and has a great chance at FL 27, which is very much like his own Sen. district. It's gonna be fun, whatever ends up happening.
On the dental front, we're waiting to see what the upshot of the BOD meeting in Tampa is, re: the hygiene bill which allows for them to do SRPs & place subgingival meds without any dentist present. This is lousy for Floridians but great for McDentist owners and other dental hucksters, 2 of whom just happen to coincidentally be BOD members. We even have an "ortho center", owned by a non-dentist, that's opening in FL. They already have one in Miami, of course. I need the colleague who alerted me to this outrage to complete the cycle and get me the name.
Last but not least, we have our own gang that can't shoot straight, the RPOF. They seem hellbent on duplicating their feat of single party gridlock from 2 years ago, having yet to pass a budget and extending what should have been the last week of session into at least this week. Sorry, mes amis, but this is not leadership, it's internal party bickering and kicking the can down the road by Rick Scott and the FL lawmakers.

"Tale of 2 Cities & Bashing Bashar"
Hi, everyone, let's get right to it! We had 2 lobbying events in as many weeks, due to new scheduling. 2 weeks ago we were in DC for the Leadership Conf., which is now called Lobbying Day and includes ASDA members. It's 4 weeks before the old early May event, so it's right before DDOH. We had a great turnout, 950 dentists and dental students! It was great to see even D-1s step up and join the process. I'd been away from DC since 2012 and little has changed. The most pleasant change for me, of course, was knowing Obama is outta there! We had a tailgate reception on opening night and I saw young & old Trojan dentists there, nice to meet classmates from many decades. The atmosphere and food were terrific and it was a great way to launch our new event model. There was also a not so good innovation which I hope goes away for next year. ADPAC hired an outfit known as Prime Advocacy to book all our appointments, instead of the traditional practice of attendees doing their own. It was an unmitigated disaster! Our own group had a Senate appt. offer rejected by them without our approval and 1 of the Congressman's staff members had no record of ever being contacted. Consequently, we had to meet with their staff in a small, noisy reception area table and the hallway, respectively, ridiculous! I understand this chaos was not limited to our group and there were many problems with a service for which ADPAC paid a high price. I will not return to this event if they use the same service. Paying someone handsomely to muck things up and cause us stress is not an option for me. That's simply not what I'm expecting when I take 2 productive days from my office. I did have some fun on the day we heard from speakers, namely the WaPo's Eugene Robinson. Mr, Robinson, true to his uber lib self, was gloating about the GOP's Obamacare repeal fiasco, 4 days earlier. He said it was a defeat for Ryan and the Dems should be sitting back, smoking a celebratory Cohiba. Check out my reply to Gene. He tried to follow up with the usual liberal spin, i.e. the "20 million newly insured" which I squashed like a bug by reminding him they have insurance they can't use, for the sky high deductibles. That part's not on the video. Please forgive the poor sound and video, it was recorded on an iPhone, LOL. Yes, Galaxies have much better video, sorry.
On the political front, there have been more Islamic terror attacks, no surprise, and some payback issued to evil doers. The new sheriff is kicking ass and taking names, particularly Bashar Al-Assad's name. My only regret is Trump left him any air power at all. Between Basher and Mushroom Head (aka Kim Jong Un) it'll be interesting to see what they do in response to the U.S. showing resolve (Un) and a rapid punishment (Assad). I also believe the collapse of RINOcare was a blessing in disguise and prevented the GOP from really screwing things up. If Trump & Co. don't get a repeal and replacement in the next few months, I truly believe they could easily lose the house in 2018. GOP should be able to take 7-9 Sen. seats, but never underestimate the capacity and penchant these spineless idiots have for snatching defeat from the jaws of victory. For all the abuse Trump's been taking, he did hit a grand slam last Friday. say hello to SC Justice Neil Gorsuch, long may he rule!! In closing, a little humor. Many of you probably remember the kerfuffle over Bill O'Reilly likening Maxine Waters' hairdo to a James Brown wig. Well, judge for yourselves below. Happy Passover & Happy Easter to you all!

Despite Prime Advocacy's bungling Cesar, Arabelys and I decided to go to Rubio's office on our own. Turns out we nabbed him at the perfect moment!
As for DDOH, I missed it! No, it wasn't my fault, AA cancelled my 5:30 flight 90 minutes before departure, due to bad weather in Tallahassee. The flights before and after mine were okay, just my luck. I was willing to go home, have dinner and go back to MIA for the 9:45 flight. But it quickly filled and all AA could offer me was to drive to FLL the next morning and take a 5:05 a.m. to Charlotte, then another flight from there to Tally. You won't need to use your imagination to guess what my response to that absurd offer was! I did stay in touch with my pals who did make the trip to coordinate the appts. In all, they met with the 3 Senators we needed to, but only 1-2 Representatives. The fault here lies squarely with their legislative staff and the way these lawmakers allow them to operate. They didn't return calls to book an appt. a few days in advance and it was next to impossible to get one. In past years the excuse was it was the very hectic Dade County Days, budget committee hearings, etc. It's always something but it seems no matter what sandwich they're making up there, we dentists are chopped liver! IMO, I think no amount of calendar juggling can fix this. If we called and told them we had a $10,000 check to hand the Senator or Representative, they'd not only make time for us, they'd be on bended knee. After 22 years of DDOH, I've run out of any desire to go back. Let the younger dentists do it and good luck to them. I'm also tired of covering for too many LCDOPOs (Legislative Contact Dentists On Paper Only) who are listed but have never attended DDOH. Enough is enough!
One good thing that came out of DC is we FINALLY (after 21 years of effort) got the House to pass our repeal of McCarran-Ferguson, a law that has allowed Big Insurance to collude, price fix and otherwise do the very things for which dentists can get fined by the FTC or yelled at by our by our legal staff. While that's a great milestone, we're told it probably has no chance in the US Senate. If we're gonna need another 21 years for that, forget it, I'll be riding my bike somewhere in the mountains. On the political front, there have been more Islamic terror attacks, no surprise, and some payback issued to evil doers. The new sheriff is kicking ass and taking names, particularly Bashar Al-Assad's name. My only regret is Trump left him any air power at all. "Deep State Sabotage, a la Obama/Soros"
No, my friends, the title's not an abominable French recipe, it's what this nation is going through as Team Trump deals with a recalcitrant opposition that simply refuses to accept the fact they lost. When Obama won, we were ordered to give him all the slack and understanding possible, or be accused of blatant racism for as little as a policy disagreement. Much like the stunned Atlanta Falcons in the last 5 minutes of the recent Super Bowl, the Dems were shocked and left dazed and confused. The key difference here is the Falcons regrouped, accepted their big choke, then proceeded to point the appropriate fingers and deal with the many things that went wrong- like atrocious play calling and a head coach who was outcoached in the 2nd half and blew a 20-point lead. But liberalism is a mental disorder and part of its dysfunction is the inability to find fault within or look for solutions. Hence, the 24/7 full coordinated assault by their party, the lapdog media and the entertainment cabal. More on that third one later.
In past history, we've had many bureaucracies whose employees and directors stayed on through multiple presidencies, regardless of party affiliation. While there were some occasional dust ups and issues, there was never the silent coup effort seen now. The reason, aside from professionals who could put differences aside and do their job, is the GOP is mostly Dems Lite and more than happy to perpetuate an ever growing govt. and all the tax $ it feeds on. But now Trump is the first WH occupant who comes from a business background, is owned by none of them and truly intends to tear down much of this useless, wasteful house of cards. So now it's personal and their gravy train is under assault. Add to that the lingering resentment of many Republicans who lost to Trump, many of whom openly admitted they'd rather see Hillary win, and we get the mess we're in. This Deep State is treasonous and seditious in its every action! Unless Trump can stop the leaking and clean house in far more places in govt. he ever dreamed would be needed, his presidency and our nation are in peril. It's ironic that the same lack of political mindset that makes Trump ideal to color outside the box and actually solve problems, is probably hindering his ability to see a political crisis and get a handle on it. For any of you who doubt the state of delusion of Dems who speak out, check out this video:

This is incoherence & idiocy on full display.
The reason I mention Obama & Soros is simple, they're behind much of this. Obama stayed in DC for a reason, to troll Trump and manipulate the strings of his entrenched stooge puppets. I have little doubt that the latest wire tapping accusations are true, we're talking about the most narcissistic POTUS ever. The idea that this nation voted to undo all his damage is too much to him to tolerate. There are those who say wire tapping is too far fetched. They forget that while a Pres. cannot get mixed up with criminal investigations, they can get involved with those that are deemed "national security". That's exactly what the Obama regime did, more than simply semantics. It also made FISA permission to wire tap much easier to obtain. As for Soros, look no further than those rent-a-mobs showing up to town halls all over the nation.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wdZzUZygtn8
And what does the cowardly GOP do? They cut and run, cancelling future meetings with their constituents, spineless! While the 1st Amendment gives us the right to free speech, one person's rights end where another's begin. You can't go to an event and disrupt to the point the legislator and guests there are unable to have a dialogue. I believe there's a good 2-step solution to fix this. 1) Require voter ID and photo ID at the door, to verify both that the person lives in the district and IS that person, or you don't get in. After all, that's what they must produce in order to vote, at least in GOP districts, LOL. 2) When someone does voice a complaint, tell them this: "While you may have benefited from Obamacare, most Americans did not and they elected us to fix that problem. If that weren't true, the GOP wouldn't control the House & Senate and Hillary would be President. Rest assured that our repeal and replacement will give you a better product, though you might have to actually pay something for it and not get a free ride from hard working taxpayers". That's it, end of story, and anyone who disrupts must be removed and arrested if they get violent. If the GOP doesn't stop its uncanny fall back ploy of snatching defeat from the jaws of victory, they're gonna only encourage more of the same and piss off their already frustrated voter base.
Now to entertainers. I recently had a conversation with a colleague, that serves to illustrate what the GOP is up against. I was telling her that it was ridiculous for Chelsea Handler (who was a non-entity in my universe until this incident) to rip Melania Trump as "barely speaking English", when the First Lady speaks five languages to ignoramus Chelsea's one. Her reply was basically 3 points: Chelsea's a comedian and gets paid to push buttons, she rips everyone and Melania's fair game right now. I told her it wasn't her comedy, but more her biased choice of who she ripped. My instinct told me this lib airhead would never rip Moochelle and I was right.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d9ZxBZDDnDA
I have no problem with comedians choosing their content, but what I do take issue with is how they're seldom held to account for their bias. As for Melania, why is she fair game? It's not like she came out ripping the nation and told us she was "finally proud" of the USA or judging and meddling in what parents feed their young children. Maybe the fact Melania's beautiful, graceful and would never wear the ridiculous get ups Moochelle sported might be the reason. The point here is if one First Lady's fair game, then they all should be. Hollywood loves beautiful people, but only when they're vapid leftists. Most people aren't political junkies like me and don't dig deeper than the superficial on these stories, which allows the media to peddle bias unabated and unchallenged. Chelsea would never appear on Fox news because she knows they'd tear her apart. If you think I'm being an overly sensitive fuddy duddy, ask yourselves if a Trump teen would ever be filmed like this?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cVmuKmE0X3I
I doubt we'd ever hear Chelsea or any other lib comic mention this video, let alone the lapdog media.
So, what this all means is the motto for the conservative movement needs to be "Do Not Expect", i.e. do not expect fairness, balance, a level playing field or acceptance by the left. That's something the GOP "leaders" must take to heart, instead of eating their own and being tougher on Team Trump than they EVER were on Obama et al. Their voters are getting impatient and increasingly angry, neither of which are good for the future of the party or nation.
As for dental issues, I'll be in DC soon and my next post will reflect on all that took place. Happy St. Patrick's Day!

"Whining Morphs Into Domestic Terrorism"
Hello, my friends, I took a week longer to allow the recent House of Delegates to take place and report accordingly. More on that later.
Yes, domestic terrorism! That's the only way to describe what's going on around the nation in our central cities and universities.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nuUcDIxH_lI

I could go on and on, showing you video evidence of how the left sees love and free speech, but you get it. This vermin has zero tolerance for anyone who disagrees with them and will beat them senseless if allowed. Most of this is in liberal cities but these mobs have managed to disrupt and destroy in many parts of the nation. Anyone who owns a business in those cities, like a dental practice, is SOL. It's only made worse when you see celebrities, elected office holders and media coddling this scum and excusing the anarchy.

Trust me, Ashley, Cher & Madge, I would never support outlawing abortion or any other legal way to cull your numbers or those of your fellow zealots! Many of us ask where were these folks on election day? Most of them don't work, had plenty of time to go vote, but just didn't do it.

I realize much of this trash is bought and paid for by Soros, but that doesn't make the problem any less serious or the need to deal with them any less urgent. I know the 1st amendment doesn't allow for death threats, so lemme just say if Soros were taken out, I'd be about as sad as when Chavez & Fidel assumed room temp. This is a big league game of chicken and Trump is being tested. The problem is no mayor or police chief of any pinko city is gonna allow their police to do their job. When they block any public street or highway, take a slow bulldozer and clear a path. When they loot and destroy property, shoot them if they attack police or civilians and arrest all you can grab. They also need to serve serious jail time, not get released the next day with a slap on the wrist. I guarantee you if they arrest these snowflakes and commie reprobates and place them in the general lockup, they'll see some real action from Bubba, Tank & Moose who are always looking for a "wife", LOL. Then let the guards turn their backs on all the fun, the same way they do when our cities are destroyed. If those who run these victimized cities won't act, they must be bypassed and Trump needs to deploy the National Guard.
The hypocrisy, as always with the left, is legion. Can any of you imagine the outcry and 24/7 media hysteria if Tea Party or other conservative groups had ever done this when Obama won? As I've always believed, liberalism cannot be coddled or appeased, it must be exposed, confronted & defeated! We did that at the ballot box, but those who embrace the actions of Mao's Cultural Revolution have no respect for elections that don't go their way and have demonstrated zero intention of abiding by the outcome. Trump's opposition is also by remnants of Clinton & Obama appointments or hires, still in govt. They must ALL be removed, clean house in every govt. bureaucracy where they can be fired and all the alphabet govt. agencies. Until Trump does that, he will continue to be stymied and sabotaged. Now about dentistry.
Last week we had an unusual HOD where, for the first time, there were no reference committees or items to be taken up for discussion and voted on the next day. Instead, we were treated to 2 speakers who gave very good presentations but it was material far better suited for general assembly meetings, the FDC, etc. IMO, the FDA has far more pressing issues to deal with. Lemme share 2 with you.
There's a company that actually sells people DIY impression trays to take their own impressions, mail them in and receive aligners! Yes, it's Invisalign in the kitchen. Of course, they can't include the 2 most crucial elements that make successful aligner therapy work, IPR and attachments in key places for better anchorage and control. This came up in the specialty forum and the ortho person didn't even think to mention it in his report! It was only when one of our SFDDA delegates brought it up that it got debated. As usual, our leadership walks on eggshells and is scared to death of one of us saying the obvious, which would then trigger an FTC sanction. I say screw the FTC! They were created to stop monopolies and save us all from mandatory AT&T mediocrity, not to protect shysters and purveyors of mediocrity from accountability. Besides, these are medical devices, folks, and should NOT be sold OTC. How is it a pt. can't buy a damn bottle of Peridex OTC but can do their own ortho?! The newest boogeyman they throw at us in the NC lawsuit over interference with free trade by the NCDA. Bring it on, we're sure as hell getting nowhere with this passivity! The FTC needs to be seriously put in its place, like we did with OSHA many years ago. For you younger members, look up Rep. (also Dr.) Charlie Norwood (R) GA. This GA dentist turned Congressman, was instrumental in putting a much needed, long overdue leash on OSHA, which used to run roughshod over our offices like gleeful jack-booted govt. thugs. The only solution here is legislative and I don't see our 4 U.S. Congress member dentists doing diddly squat. Rep. Mike Simpson (R) ID, has been there the longest and has done zero to champion the termination of MDT (medical device tax) or repeal of McCarran-Ferguson, a law that lets Big Ins. collude and price fix to their heart's content, while we have to fear the FTC if we say something in a dental meeting. I'm going back to DC this coming March, after a 4-year hiatus, and intend to ask some questions.
The other item is our dysfunctional, activist BOD. They are split into 2 factions, one recognizing the proper role of dental professionals and the scope of practice for hygienists, as well as term limits for BOD members. The other faction wants none of this, they recently passed a rules change in a meeting that was not even properly advance noticed and whose votes should not have legal standing. They also reelected the former chair to another term as chair, despite the fact his 10-year term limit is in 2 months! But wait, there's more! That meeting also featured the election of 1 of the 2 hygienist members as vice-chair, something unprecedented in our history. For those of you who aren't aware, the BOD consists of 7 actively practicing dentists, 2 hygienists and 2 consumers. The other item that was forced down out throats was allowing for hygienists to do SRPs and place subgingival meds without a dentist in the office. Now, you may ask why a body whose mission it is to protect the public from us would do that? Easy, they have 2 members who will benefit by lax rules to allow them to crank out max procedures in their multiple offices. While this year is not the right political climate to take on the term limit issue, the FDA will pursue the hygiene rule change in the appropriate manner. They were told, in no uncertain terms, to use any and all measures to prevent this by our delegation last week. It's very telling to note that Rick Scott has not filled the open consumer member seat on the BOD in over 3 years. This governor vetoed our loan forgiveness bill, which passed all committees and full House & Sen. votes! He is NOT a friend of dentistry and we all need to remember that when he runs for U.S. Sen. in 2018. I never thought I'd see the day when I'd rather see Bill Nelson stay on into dementia, than let Scott do the damage he's done in FL at the national level.
